Here's My Paul Stories!
Very first time I saw Paul was in the summer of either early 1980s or late 1979. I just can't remember when the movie was in theaters. I and a few girlfriends went to see Rockshow at the Zigfield theater in New York City. ( Which is not far from MPL office). We were just a bunch of girls fooling around in the big city that day. As we were on the corner of 54th Street and 6th Avenue a limo started to come around the corner. The limo paused for a moment. It pulled up to where we stood. The back window rolled down. My friend, Linda, grabbed my arm and said "Look! Its's Paul!" I turned around to look and I didn't believe her at first. I wasn't sure it was him and then I took a closer look. It was Paul! He was having a ciggy in the back seat of his limo. I thought it was a cigar, but it could have been a cigarette. I was too busy seeing if it was Paul or not. He leaned toward the window and gave us one a great big smile and a wink.

BROAD STREET. GIVE MY REGARDS
This was not one of my best sightings, but I did see him. My girlfriend Linda and I, were outside the Gotham theater for the premier of Broad Street. We were right at the red carpet line. I was so happy to be so close. Well, the NYC police pushed us back. I thought at first they were just doing their job. Then they let some of their friends get in front. That was very upsetting. I am short and my friend started getting claustrophobic. I would never put my friends health at risk. So we left the crowd and went across the street. Paul's limo pulled up. We watched Paul and Linda exit the limo. I took a photo. I was so nervous that he came out blurry. At least, I was there.
THE CHERRY BAR PARTY
This was April 2001. After Paul and Heather met wilh Collin Powell about the landmine issues. There was a party thrown in Paul's honor. A very reliable source advised me to be at The Cherry Bar. I put on my slickest and coolest looking suit and ran down to the bar after work. I did not have my Nikon on me so I had to buy a disposable camera on this short notice. I was the only one standing there waiting among some press. Then a few fans trickled in. Most heard via word of mouth. I was standing at the carpet. At first security thought I was a guest and asked me if I was a guest and that if so I should go into the bar. Stupid, honest me, I said no. So they told me to go across the street with the fans. I was still out in the middle of the street. Way in front of the crowd. A nice police officer gave me a break and did not hassle me. As the limo arrived, Paul got out on the opposite curb side. Heather got out on the street side but I never saw her. My eyes and camera fixed on Paul. I yelled " Hey Paul" he looked over at me as he got out of the car. He smiled and gave a thumbs up. Girls nearby me said "He's doing that for you, you caught his eye!" I said " No its for all of us." I took a very nice photo. Bit small but you can see the smile and the thumbs up he gave.!
BLACKBIRD SINGING BOOK SIGNING
This was June, 2001 at Barnes and Noble in New York. I got out there real early for the book signing only to find that they were only letting in the first 100 and I was way too late. I was very, very sad. I was all dressed in my best looking as I say Fifth Avenue style. Some of the fans said, " Oh you are definitely going to get in, the way you look. So professional,so smart." Then I saw some of the same security guys I saw at The Cherry Bar. They said "Aren't you with the press?" Remembering my prior mistake I said "Yes". There were a few press guys in the pit that were great and I chatted and hung with them. There were a few who were not and seemed somewhat jealous that I was allowed to be there. The not so nice press guys pushed their way in front of me as we were being allowed inside. When the security saw what was going on they took me and a couple of others aside and gave us a special, private escort inside. Pass the crowds, over the welcome carpet, pass some reporters I recognized from TV. I felts so special. Then before my eyes, there was Paul signing fan's books. He looked so down to earth, so youthful and so real. As I am short I had to duck between cameras and bodies to see Paul. I was being very helpful, assisting some of the press with their stools and accessories. Some were very nice to me. The fan line had stopped and I stayed for the press conference. As I ducked under one camera, I finally caught Paul's eye. Someone was asking him a question at the time and it appeared I distracted Paul. What a smile, what a look he gave with his welcoming smile. Then as I walked around ducking under other cameras to look again, Paul seemed to be looking for me through the crowd. Seemed like sort of like a hide and seek game. Then the conference was over and most of the press left to go out and get that exit shot. I stayed behind. Paul got up from the table. After, a small chat with his staff. He walked straight over to where I stood. He was standing right next to me! There was a rope between us still, but I felt his leg brush by mine as he stood right near. He kept fussing with his watch. It was his watchcam watch. He kept looking at it and showing it my way saying " I am so busy, can't believe the time, so busy, so much to do" It did not seem like a complaint. More like a nervous stutter. Anyway, I froze. I did not know what to say. Then some press ran back to get his autograph. They stuck the books out for his autograph. Stupid me, I followed their lead and did the same. Now I am like all the rest. He did reach over some of the pushy press people's books and signed my book. He said "Let me scribble ya, It will be scribbly, sorry if its scribbly." I said "That's alright Paul, thanks.Love ya" He smiled as he turned to get ready for his exit. Before he left my side he fooled around with that watch again and mentioned the time. He took a gulp of water as the police got him ready to go. I followed behind as we exited. Then it seemed so crazy outside. All the crowds. I chosed to back up and wait until the excitement dies down. It was some day. Got photos and an autograph and a little spoken word from Paul.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
I was walking around the block from MPL, NY. I work nearby. I saw a town car coming down the street. I saw what seemed to be Paul. This guy who liked like Paul seemed to recognize me. At least that's my impression. He leaned toward the window and waived very happily. I smiled back and that was all. The last time I saw Paul.
